If you want to take a trip to a state park, you can enter at no cost to you Friday.
The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks says entrance fees will be waived at all state parks as part of a nationwide #OptOutside initiative. People visiting the state parks also have a chance to win a free night’s stay in a state park cabin of their choice. To participate, residents need to take a selfie in a state park and share it to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with two hashtags — #OptOutside and #MyKsStatePark.
There are several state parks in or near the KVOE listening area, including the Flint Hills Trail State Park stretching from Council Grove to Osawatomie, Eisenhower State Park near Melvern, Fall River State Park in Greenwood County and Pomona State Park in Osage County.
