The Kansas Department of Agriculture is offering reimbursement funds for growers of specialty crops if they attend educational conferences with a primary focus on specialty crops.
KDA says applicants need to attend conferences between December and next June. They also need to complete surveys before, directly after and six months after the conferences before payments can be issued. They also need to attend conferences out of state, and the Great Plains Growers Conference is not eligible.
Qualifying conferences may include information about production practices, pest and disease management, marketing practices, business principles or specialized equipment and technology.
KDA will reimburse up to $850 for mileage, travel accommodations and conference registration costs. Applications are due Dec. 17.
