Two Emporia residents were taken to a Wichita hospital after a late evening accident in Butler County Saturday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2008 Buick Enclave driven by 35-year-old Cristal Araceli Delarosa of Emporia was southbound at KTA mile marker 87, roughly 5 miles south of Cassoday. For unknown reasons Delarosa changed lanes and struck a 2019 Ford F350 pickup driven by 60-year-old Gerald Ray Tims of Oklahoma City, OK.
Delarosa and a passenger, 16-year-old Mauricio Morales also of Emporia, were taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with suspected serious injuries. Tim’s was taken to Susan B Allen hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Tims was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. It is unknown if either Delarosa or Morales were wearing a safety restraint.
