A rural Emporia man suffered potentially serious injuries after two trucks of differing sizes collided northeast of Emporia on Monday afternoon
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 56-year-old Kevin Larry Stock was southbound on Kansas Highway 99 near Road M, about seven miles northeast of Emporia, when his pickup rear-ended the trailer of a southbound semi driven by 62-year-old Mark Duane Tonn of Mount Hope around 2 pm.
Stock had to be extricated from his truck. He was taken immediately to Newman Regional Health and was subsequently transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Tonn was not hurt.
Both Stock and Tonn were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is leading an investigation into a crash with potentially serious injuries northeast of Emporia on Monday.
Law enforcement and Emporia Fire responded to the junction of Kansas Highway 99 and Road M around 2 pm. Early indications are a small pickup truck collided with a semi, causing one person in the pickup to need extrication before being hospitalized at Newman Regional Health afterward.
