Three Wichita residents were hurt in a crash on Interstate 35 between the BETO Junction and Melvern exits Sunday.
The crash happened shortly before 5:15 pm about 30 miles east of Emporia, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Troopers say 22-year-old Nelly Palacio was driving an SUV southbound when she lost control. The vehicle veered off the highway and rolled into the north ditch.
Palacio and 2-year-old Jazmin Salazar were taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Palacio with suspected serious injuries and Salazar with suspected minor injuries. Another passenger, 23-year-old Hugo Arita, was taken to KU Medical Hospital in Kansas City with suspected serious injuries.
All three were wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash. It’s unclear how Palacio lost control of the SUV.
