Nov. 29 has a new record high temperature for the Emporia Municipal Airport.
The airport reached 77 degrees Monday afternoon, topping the previous record of 74 degrees set back in 1998. Several other reporting stations across northeast and central Kansas announced record highs, including Concordia, Russell and Salina, with Wichita tying its previous high.
The National Weather Service says another record high could be set this week. Thursday’s projected high is 75, above the current record of 72 set in 2001.
The National Weather Service records for Emporia date back to 1950.
