Emporia’s daily record high for December 2 will likely be reset by late afternoon, if not earlier in the day. And another high-temperature record is also in jeopardy.
The current record is 72 degrees set in 2001. The forecast high at the Emporia Municipal Airport is now 80 degrees.
If the forecast holds, this would shatter the previous all-time December high temperature for Emporia, based on National Weather Service records. The current December record is 74 degrees on Dec. 5, 2001. This would also be the second record high temperature this week for Emporia. Mondy’s high of 77 topped the previous record of 74 degrees back in 1998 for Nov. 29.
