The Red Stocking Breakfast brought a lot of families to Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill on Saturday, which was fitting because the event is all about helping families succeed.
Proceeds benefit the Healthy Families program, which offers various supports to parents of young children under the age of 5. Honorary chairperson Bobbi Mlynar says it can be difficult for parents to see the joys of family life when they are going through stressful situations, and the Healthy Families program can be of help.
Regional Director Bev Long agrees. She says the fundraiser generates money for programming, but it serves other purposes along the way.
People came to Bruffs for a buffet-style breakfast and silent auction.
The fundraiser has been part of Emporia’s holiday community calendar since 2012, but last year’s event had to be canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. Fundraising totals are pending.
