The Emporia State women’s basketball team was outscored by Fort Hays State, the number 1 ranked team in the nation 70-65 Saturday.
Lady Hornet Coach Toby Wynn said they had their chances.
Tre’Zure Jobe led the offense with a game-high 26 points. Ehlaina Hartman added 20 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 5-3 for the season and 0-2 in the MIAA.
Fort Hays State also won the men’s game 78-76 in overtime.
The Hornets led by 13 points at halftime but were unable to hang onto the lead. Coach Craig Doty said they need to play a full 40 minutes.
Tray Buchanan led Emporia State in scoring with a game-high 29 points. Jumah’Ri Turner added 21 points and Mayoum Buom finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds.
The Emporia State men are now 6-2 for the season and 1-1 in the MIAA.
Both the men and women play at Newman on Wednesday night.
