Increased positive COVID-19 cases within Newman Regional Health has led the hospital to move to its most restrictive visitation policy level.
The hospital has moved to tier 3 of its visitation policy meaning all visitors are prohibited from the facility except for “special circumstances” according to a news release from the hospital Wednesday morning. Special circumstances include:
* Childbirth
* Surgical outpatient procedures
* Critical care patients transferring to a tertiary facility
* Patients at time of discharge
* Appointments for pediatric patients under the age of 18
* Patients experiencing end-of-life
* Patients with acute or chronic cognitive impairment
Visitations for any of these scenarios will be decided by a patient’s provider, nursing staff and unit director.
Visitations by individuals with a confirmed COVID infection, potential infection or who are displaying symptoms will not be permitted unless the patient they are visiting is “in an end-of-life situation.”
End-of-life visitations are not to exceed one hour and individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment including a surgical mask, eye protection, gown and gloves.
