Another component of President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate plan is on hold.
The US District Court of the Southern District of Georgia has placed a temporary injunction on the policy directing businesses to get their employees fully vaccinated in order to get federal contracts. This follows a lawsuit by Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and six other state attorneys general in October.
With this ruling, the three main components of Biden’s vaccination plan are all shelved until further action in federal court. This includes the directive from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration that all employers with more than 100 workers have their employees fully vaccinated or possibly face fines of up to $14,000 per violation. It also includes the mandate from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that all employees in healthcare facilities receiving federal money must be vaccinated or else those locations lose their funding.
