Thankfully, there were no reports of damage or injuries across the KVOE listening area after a pair of earthquakes in the Salina area Wednesday.
The first jolt was a magnitude 4.3 quake about four miles southwest of Gypsum around 7:45 am. The second quake, a magnitude 3.1, hit about 3.5 miles southwest of Gypsum about 2:25 pm.
The first quake caused reports of shaking across Kansas and several neighboring states. Weak shaking was reported in Emporia, Americus, Eureka, Hartford, Lebo, Madison, Matfield Green and Olpe. Shaking was reported as far away as Sedalia, Missouri, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Shake reports were far more limited after the second quake, with no reports in the KVOE listening area.

If you got jostled a bit around 7:45 am Wednesday, there was a reason for that.
The US Geological Survey has reported a magnitude 4.3 earthquake about four miles southwest of Gypsum and about 90 miles northwest of Emporia.
Area reports include weak shaking in Emporia, Eureka and Hartford, with moderate shaking near the epicenter. So far, the quake has been felt as far away as Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Beatrice, Nebraska.
