Emporia Fire are investigating after a small fire caused damage to a porch in central Emporia late Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called to a house in the 1000 block of Walnut shortly before midnight. Initially, the call was for a brush fire, but the fire had moved across the yard and started affecting the back porch by the time crews arrived.
The porch suffered minor damage, as did a privacy fence nearby.
At this time, it’s unclear if there was a brush pile involved. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
