Residents are encouraged to take part in an Emporia holiday tradition helping children served by two local agencies this weekend.
The Delane Toy Drive returns Saturday night, involving the neighborhood of Delane, Darlene, Hillcrest and — brand-new to the event this year — Arrowhead Drive. Organizer Marlo Walburn urges people to donate, given the increased need across the area.
This is the 38th annual toy drop benefiting Salvation Army and SOS. Residents are encouraged to use 18th to get to Delane and go through the neighborhood. The official toy drop location is 1830 Hillcrest from 6-9 pm. Santa, Mrs. Claus and several elves will be at the stop.
Residents can also go online to www.emporiatoydrive.com to make monetary donations to SOS.
