An Emporia man accused of methamphetamine and paraphernalia possession in one case working through Lyon County District Court is now facing far more serious charges in a separate case.
Lawrence Eugene Vaughn, 51, has been formally charged with kidnapping, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated burglary, robbery and other counts after alleged incidents in late October and early November in Emporia. The affidavit, or court narrative, is sealed, but the legal complaint provided to KVOE News indicates Vaughn is accused of trying to stop the alleged victim’s breathing in both incidents and robbing the alleged victim of her cell phone in the second incident as well as gaining control of her vehicle without the alleged victim’s consent.
Vaughn’s preliminary hearing in the kidnapping case is set for 2:30 pm Dec. 20 in front of Judge Doug Jones. He has a preliminary hearing in the drug possession at 3:30 pm Dec. 22, also in front of Judge Jones.
