Emporia Fire’s rural unit handled several grass fires that developed along the Americus Road between Emporia and Americus on Wednesday.
Fire Capt. Jesse Taylor says District 4 was called to the Americus Road S-curves shortly before 11:30 am. Ultimately, crews had to put out six spot fires between 2050 Road F-5 and the intersection of Road 215 and F-5. Roughly 6-10 acres burned, but Taylor says there were no injuries and no damage to nearby homes and outbuildings.
Causes are under investigation.
