USD 386 Madison-Virgil is making a change in its learning model to close out the week.
Beginning Wednesday, the district will switch to homebound learning. Acting Superintendent Steve Jowers says there is a “lack of available staffing and student coverage due to COVID-19 cases,” although the district hasn’t specified how many cases are confirmed.
School is taking place as normal Tuesday. Close contacts will need to be tested before school. Jowers says teachers will send learning packets home with students at the end of Tuesday, including information on how to contact teachers for help if needed.
The district’s Early Learning Center will be closed Wednesday through Friday and is set to reopen Monday. Students attending classes at Flint Hills Technical College will have classes and transportation as normal. Basketball practice at both the junior high and high school have been canceled the rest of the week.
USD 386 parents and patrons with questions about this change can call Jowers at 620-437-2918 or email sjowers@usd386.net.
