Lyon County’s coronavirus metrics saw a massive uptick Friday.
Overall cases increased by 227 from 6,203 to 6,430 between reporting periods. Active cases also increased significantly from 148 to 255, the highest total since 220 active cases were reported on Jan. 5.
Of the 255 active cases, 48 are considered breakthroughs meaning infections in fully vaccinated residents. Collectively, Lyon County Public Health has identified a total of 447 breakthrough cases.
The 30 to 39 age group has the largest number of active cases within the county with 46 and the second largest overall case total at 986. Individuals between the ages of 18 to 23 has the second-highest active total at 39 and the highest overall total at 1,020 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The county’s death toll increased by three to 97. Active hospitalizations also increased from one to five.
