An Emporia native is once again an applicant for a Court of Appeals position.
Kristen Wheeler, the daughter of Lyon County Chief Juge Merlin Wheeler, is one of eight applicants for the position coming open when Judge Michael Buser retires next month. Interviews will be open to the public once the schedule is announced.
Wheeler was a finalist for a Kansas Supreme Court position when Kansas Supreme Court Justice Carol Beier retired last year. She also interviewed for the Court of Appeals early this year when Judge Melissa Taylor Standridge ultimately replaced Beier.
