The Emporia High girls basketball team goes into the Christmas break coming off a win. The Lady Spartans rallied in the 2nd half for a 47-39 win over Great Bend.
Emporia High trailed thru the first half. They outscored the host Panthers 34-19 in the 2nd half to earn the win.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey was pleased with the way they responded in the 2nd half.
Gracie Gilpin led Emporia High in scoring with 13 points. Allie Baker and Rebecca Snyder both finished with 10 points.
With the win, the Emporia High girls are now 3-2 for the season.
In the boys’ game, Great Bend rallied for a 46-38 win over Emporia High.
The Spartans held the lead until the 5:22 mark of the 4th quarter when Great Bend tied the game at 33. They would out-score Emporia High 13-5 the rest of the way. The Spartans did not help their own cause making 9 of 22 free throws.
Coach Beau Welch said that was part of what reason for the loss.
Emporia High was led by Cooper Rech with 12 points.
The Spartans fall to 0-5.
Both the Girls and Boys are off until January 4th when they play at Manhattan.
