Jobless rates fell from October to November, both at the state and area levels.
November’s unemployment rate statewide was 3.6 percent, down from 3.9 percent in October. Labor Department economist Emilie Doerksen says several sectors had notable gains month-to-month.
Areawide, jobless rates were much lower than the state figure. Emporia’s jobless rate was 2.1 percent, down from 2.9 percent in October and 3.7 percent a year ago. Lyon County was 2.2 percent for November, down from 2.8 percent in October and 3.6 percent a year ago.
For area counties, all jobless rates are at 2.6 percent or below. Chase County has the lowest jobless rate areawide at 1.7 percent and Morris County is right behind at 1.9 percent. Coffey County has the highest jobless rate areawide at 2.6 percent.
