Mother Nature’s gift to the KVOE listening area this year? A record high temperature.
The Emporia Municipal Airport recorded a 74-degree high temperature, just enough to eclipse the 73-degree record that had stood since 1955.
Emporia has set several daily record high temperatures over the past month. Nov. 29 had a high of 77, above the previous record of 74 set in 1998. Dec. 2’s high of 79 degrees set the all-time monthly high for a December and surpassed both the daily high of 72 from 2001 and the prior monthly high of 74 set Dec. 5, 2001. The Dec. 15 record high of 69 degrees from 2002 was also reset this month after a high in the mid-70s.
