Lyon County Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward as the investigation continues into the destructive fire at the former Hornets Pointe apartment complex.
Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward of up to $1,000 leading to the arrest and conviction of those allegedly involved. Emporia Fire and a team of investigating agencies have been looking into the case as an arson incident almost immediately after the fire Dec. 12.
Meanwhile, fundraising continues for Tharon Mott, the Allen-Admire fire chief badly hurt during the firefighting effort. A GoFundMe page has raised over $4,500 for Mott’s medical expenses — closing in on the goal of $5,000 — and a special benefit meal and silent auction is now on the calendar for Jan. 8 at the Admire Fire Station. Allen-Admire Battalion Chief Tim Rogers says it has been great to have Mott back home after nearly a week in different hospitals.
Mott has a long road to recovery ahead, with at least eight weeks off work and an extensive rehab program coming.
The Jan. 8 event will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, baked beans and beverages. There is a suggested donation of $7 a plate but free-will donations are accepted. The silent auction will include a gun, custom fishing rod, photography sessions, half a processed beef and penthouse seats to the Kansas City Chiefs. More items will likely be added.
For more information about the Jan. 8 activities, call Rogers at 620-412-7186. Click here for the link to Mott’s GoFundMe page.
