Incoming Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas President Chuck Scott is laying the foundation for his new position ahead of his formal start date.
Scott was announced as the replacement for current RDA President Kent Heerman earlier this month and comes to Emporia from Abilene where he currently serves as the Dickinson County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director. While he wraps up his work in Abilene, Scott says he has been hard at work building new connections within the Emporia community over the past few weeks.
As he prepares to transition to Emporia, Scott believes his wealth of knowledge in the areas of finance, real estate development and project management will serve him well in his new role. When asked his thoughts on serving not only the needs of the immediate Emporia community but the larger Lyon County area as a whole, Scott stated that it is work he is comfortable and familiar with.
Scott’s first day in his new role is set for Jan. 17 when he will replace Heerman who has served as the RDA’s only president since 1994.
