It didn’t quite hit the original goal, however, Salvation Army Lt. Mylie Hadden was still pleased with their Christmas Campaign total for 2021.
The annual Red Kettle Campaign managed to bring in a total of $55,015 against a goal of $70,000. Despite being below the original goal, Lt. Hadden says it is still a tremendous total that will go a long way in serving the local community.
This holiday season, Hadden says some services have been in higher demand than others with winter clothing assistance being relatively low due to the record warm temperatures we’ve seen thus far. That said, Hadden expects that trend will reverse sooner rather than later and the demand for winter clothing will rival the high demand for other services provided by the organization.
Hadden says she is hopeful other fundraising endeavors, such as their ongoing white paper campaign, will help to offset some of the remaining funds from the Kettle Campaign. Totals from the paper campaign will be announced at a later time.
Donations for the Christmas campaign will continue to be accepted through January according to Hadden. For more information contact the Salvation Army of Emporia by calling 620-342-3093.
