You may be getting an unsolicited text message allegedly from the state dealing with COVID-19 and driver’s licenses. Two state agencies say that will likely be a scam.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Department of Revenue are asking you to watch for text messages claiming to represent those departments, especially if they have the following message: “Kansas COVID-19 Vaccine Driver License Waiver Validation. Validate your details below.” The text message has a link for you to click with a .com suffix.
Both KDHE and KDOR say they will not send unsolicited text messages requesting vaccination status, Social Security number or other sensitive information. They also say all state websites end with a .gov suffix.
To report a scam text message, you have three options:
*Report it on your messaging app of choice
*Copy the message and forward it to 7726 (SPAM)
*Report it to the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov.
