Early court proceedings are now underway for the man who allegedly led Emporia and Lyon County law enforcement on a chase from Emporia into north and east Lyon County before barricading himself inside a house near the Coffey County line.
Rolando Galindo, 36, had his first appearance in Lyon County District Court this week after the alleged incident Dec. 29. Galindo is officially charged with a single count of flee and elude with at least five moving violations. There are two alternate counts, one for flee and elude by avoiding tire-deflating devices and another for flee and elude by engaging in reckless driving. Single counts of kidnapping, interference with law enforcement, burglary, theft and marijuana possession are also on file.
The affidavit is sealed. Besides the chase, Galindo is accused of taking a woman by force, as well as entering a house in the 1800 block of Road Y without consent and taking somebody else’s truck.
A preliminary hearing is now set for Feb. 2 in front of Judge Doug Jones.
