An Emporia man and Osage City woman were among three people hurt in a crash in northeast Morris County on Wednesday.
The wreck happened shortly before 3:30 pm. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a car driven by 42-year-old Robin Robinson of Osage City was northbound on Kansas Highway 177, following a slow-moving tractor and another uninvolved vehicle as she approached the junction with Kansas Highway 4 outside Alta Vista. For currently unlisted reasons, a pickup truck driven by 81-year-old William Osborne of Topeka rear-ended Robinson’s car and then lost control, rotating to the point where it blocked part of K-177. A pickup driven by 19-year-old Nolan Abernathy of Emporia then hit Osborne’s truck.
Abernathy suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken to Morris County Hospital in Council Grove for treatment. Robinson suffered suspected minor injuries and also went to Morris County Hospital for treatment, while a young passenger suffered no apparent injuries. Osborne had suspected serious injuries and was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment.
