You still have some time to drop your less-than-live Christmas tree through a couple different initiatives.
The city of Emporia has drop-off locations at Dillons, Guion’s Showcase and the Lyon County Fairgrounds north entrance through Monday. All ornaments and bags need to be removed before disposal. Residents who can’t use those locations can drop off their trees at the Lyon County Transfer Station, 3100 West South.
Also, the David Traylor Zoo is accepting trees for animal enrichment as it did last year. Trees need to be dropped off at the Park and Zoo Barn across from the main entrance. Ornaments, tinsel, flocking and all other kinds of decorations must be removed before drop-off. That program ends Saturday.
