No transports were needed after a vehicle struck a fire hydrant in northwest Emporia Friday afternoon.
Emporia Police were called to 1817 Coronado Drive around 4:44 pm for a reported injury accident. According to Sgt. Tim Wacker, a 2016 Ford Focus driven by 21-year-old Taylor Stuart was westbound on Coronado when she lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.
Stuart struck a hydrant in the area causing water to spill out onto the roadway. Public works crews were called to the scene to shut off water and repair the damage.
A timetable for repairs is pending. Stuart declined a trip to the hospital following the accident.

Emporia Police and Emporia Public Works are investigating after an apparent crash into a hydrant in northwest Emporia on Friday afternoon.
The incident happened near the intersection of Coronado and La Cruz. Details about the crash are pending through Emporia Police. Two people suffered minor injuries but declined hospital trips afterward.
A heavy water flow was noticeable for some time after the incident. Emporia Public Works has shut off the valves near the hydrant to halt the water and limit extra freezing with sharply colder air expected to come to the area early Saturday.
