More free COVID-19 testing opportunities await in Emporia for January.
Healthier Lyon County is partnering with RADxUP to offer free tests on Jan. 11 and Jan. 13. The event Jan. 11 is at Hartford High School from 5-8:30 pm. The event Jan. 13 will be at Emporia Senior Center from 10 am to 3 pm.
This expands the Healthier Lyon County testing effort, which has been held periodically at the CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness office at 104 East Eighth in November and December. Healthier Lyon County will offer free testing at its office from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesdays, and it also encourages churches, schools, community centers and other locations to reach out to Healthier Lyon County to schedule large-scale testing events. Healthier Lyon County also has home test kits, but those are in extremely short supply so those are reserved for people with transportation issues, obvious COVID symptoms, close contacts and those involved in high-risk activities.
