The Emporia State men made a season-high 19 three-point shots on the way to a 91-59 win over Central Missouri Monday night.
Tray Buchanan and Jumah’Ri Turner each made Six 3s’, new career highs. Buchanan finished with 27 points, Turner finished 20 points.
Kaden Evans scored 12 points, making 4 threes. Brooks Haddock tied his season-high with 11 points and 3 made 3’s.
Mayuom Buom added 11 points. The Hornets used a 22-10 run to close out the first half to take a lead they would not give up after the two teams traded leads 11 times and there were 2 ties.
Coach Craig Doty said they also played well defensively.
The Hornets with the win improve to 11-3 for the season and 6-2 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State women struggled to score in an 83-49 loss to Central Missouri. The Lady Hornets shot 26 percent from the field and were just 5 of 33 from the 3 point line. Central shot 48 percent from the floor and made 11 three-point shots. Kali Martin led Emporia State with a team-high 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tre’Zure Jobe finished with 10 points making 2 of 12 shot attempts. Fredricka Sheats added 12 points. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 9-5 for the season and 4-4 in the MIAA.
Both the Emporia State women and men are scheduled to host Missouri Western Thursday night.
Emporia States Tre’Zure Jobe was named the MIAA womens basketball player of the Week.
