The recent upswing in COVID-19 cases has forced an operations adjustment for the Fifth Judicial District serving Lyon and Chase counties.
On Monday, Chief Judge Merlin Wheeler announced all jury trials will be suspended until at least Valentine’s Day. Wheeler also said residents who have been summoned for jury duty in January do not need to appear and new summons paperwork will be issued once trials resume.
Wheeler’s announcement came following Monday’s special Lyon County Commission meeting and Lyon County Public Health’s report indicating current COVID cases and positivity rates are higher than at any time since the pandemic started in March 2020.
