The Hartford girls and Olpe boys both picked up wins in area high school action Tuesday night.
In the girl’s game, the Hartford Lady Jaguars would hold Olpe to single digits in every quarter as they rolled to a 50-22 victory.
Hartford would take just a four-point 12-8 lead into the second quarter before outscoring the Lady Eagles 19-8 to lead 31-16 at the half. The Lady Jaguars held Olpe to just six points in the second half and built their lead to as many as 30 to pick up their fourth win on the year.
Hartford had three scorers in double digits. Senior Kiernan Breashears led all scorers with 14 while freshman Trinity Windle and senior Regan Darbyshire both added 10.
Coach Ryan Thomas says this was a much-needed confidence boost for his team.
The Lady Jaguars now improve to 4-4 on the season while Olpe falls to 4-6
In the boy’s game, Olpe came out fast and furious and never let up defeating Hartford 78-21.
Olpe built an early double-digit lead in the first shooting 70 percent from the field. The Eagles took a 48-13 lead into halftime before outscoring Hartford 30-8 in the second half to close out the win.
Olpe had three players end the night in double figures. Truman Bailey led all scorers with 21 points while Damon Redeker ended the night with 17 and Derek Hoelting finished with 14.
Head Coach Chris Schmidt says his team controlled the tempo from the start.
Olpe now improves to 9-1 as Hartford falls to 2-6.
