Lyon County’s coronavirus traffic recently isn’t yet at records for active numbers, but they are for new cases.
Lyon County Public Health’s website, www.publichealth.lyoncounty.org, indicates the county had 147 new cases Monday. It’s the highest number in the current spike and it tops the new caseload daily high from Lyon County’s first major spike in November 2020. Before the current surge, the daily high was 97 new cases reported Nov. 15, 2020.
Active cases are approaching the record of 679 set Nov. 18, 2020. On Wednesday, Lyon County Public Health announced 601 new cases — but the county actually went to 630 active cases Tuesday.
Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern said there has also been a notable spike in test positivity just since December when test positivity was around 20 percent, well above the Public Health goal of 5 percent or less.
