Saying the Occupational Safety and Health Administration overstepped its bounds, the US Supreme Court has issued a stay of one key component of President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate plan.
By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court issued a stay of OSHA’s vaccine-or-test mandate on private businesses with at least 100 employees. The majority opinion acknowledges COVID-19 is “a risk that occurs in many workplaces, (but) it is not an occupational hazard in most.”
While the court halted that aspect of the President’s COVID plan, it allowed the Biden plan mandating vaccination at medical facilities receiving federal funds to move forward. This plan is subject to medical or religious exemptions.
