COVID-19 response has been a polarizing topic for most of the pandemic, and it hasn’t mattered if you’re talking about local, state or national policy.
The latest example of that was the KVOE News poll, which asked residents whether they approved the Lyon County Commission’s decision from Jan. 10 to keep COVID-19 mitigation policies — mask use, social distancing and public venue attendance limits — at recommended levels instead of mandate as requested by Lyon County Public Health. With nearly 650 votes cast through the poll, just over half — 332 votes, or 51 percent — disagreed with that decision. There were 315 votes, or 49 percent, agreeing with the County Commission.
The KVOE News poll also had close to 90 comments through Facebook@kvoenews. Of the clear yes-no votes, 13 people agreed with the County Commission’s decision and 23 did not.
