Day one in his new position as President of the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas may be one of the busiest Chuck Scott will have in his tenure.
Scott began his first day on the job with a 7 am meeting at Simmon’s Pet Foods to continue his introduction to the community. Scott has been working from Abilene, where he previously served as the Executive Director of the Dickinson County Economic Development Corporation, to foster relationships with local leaders and companies ahead of his official start date.
Scott says he is thankful to have been chosen as the new RDA President and for the opportunity to continue the tremendous success the RDA has had since its inception.
Scott says there is a lot of work ahead for him in the coming weeks as he continues to fully acclimate himself to the Emporia community, but thankfully outgoing RDA President Kent Heerman has been by his side to help make the transition a bit smoother. Aside from fostering local relationships, Scott says his first 90 days will be spent broadening his knowledge of Emporia’s economic and community history.
Scott was announced as the replacement for Heerman back in December following Heerman’s retirement announcement last year. Heerman’s official final day is Feb. 1.
An open house farewell party for Heerman will be held Friday, Jan. 28 from 2 to 4 pm at the Trusler Business Center.
