Osage County voters haven’t decided yet on whether to approve a new law enforcement and emergency management center, but county officials are doing their due diligence in advance if voters approve.
The Sheriff’s Office says it is meeting this week with local vendors that may be interested in providing services, including general construction; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; electrical work; flooring and other construction specialties. An architect from the Goldberg Group will meet with those in attendance.
The meeting is at 10 am Wednesday in the Sheriff’s Office in Lyndon.
The current plan involves 144 proposed beds, up from 30 currently available, and a facility that will house all aspects of law enforcement and emergency management. If approved, the new facility could cost upwards of $18 million and would be funded by revenue from holding inmates for other cities and counties.
The special election is Feb. 8. Town hall meetings continue across the county through Feb. 7.
