The midweek break has arrived for the Flint Hills Shootout at White Auditorium.
Tourney Director Tanner Smith says there have been a handful of schedule adjustments, including a couple cancellations early, but he’s glad the tournament has returned to downtown Emporia.
Last year’s tournament had opening rounds at different high schools, but Smith says that setup didn’t have the same atmosphere as playing at White Auditorium does.
Play resumes Thursday, and at this point, Smith says operations are following Lyon County’s plan on coronavirus — meaning patrons are encouraged to wear masks and social distancing but those COVID-19 mitigation steps are not required. Fans from different communities are staying in the same general seating areas and some players are wearing masks as they play.
Coverage of the championship semifinals will take place Friday, with third-place and championship games Saturday on Country 101.7 FM and KVOE.com.
