December was a good month to close out a good year for home sales in Emporia.
The Sunflower Association of Realtors says 54 homes sold last month, up almost 30 percent from the 42 homes sold in December 2020. This followed 50 home sales in November and 550 for the year. The annual stat was up almost 15 percent from the 479 sold in 2020.
Active listings declined from 57 in December 2020 to 44 last month, meaning there is one month’s supply of available homes on the local market.
The average sale price was almost $177,000 for December, up 13 percent from the nearly $157,000 price tag a year earlier.
For Lyon County outside Emporia, there were 49 home sales in December, compared to 42 home sales in November and 36 homes sold in December 2020. For the year, greater Lyon County had 467 home sales, up almost 17 percent from the 401 in 2020.
