Washburn Rural jumped out to an early 8-4 lead and never trailed on the way to a 58-32 win over the Emporia High girls basketball team Friday Night.
Washburn Rural would hold a 17-7 lead after the first quarter and led 32-15 at halftime. Emporia High would score only 4 points in the third quarter and trailed by 23 points going to the 4th quarter.
Emporia High girls coach Carolyn Dorsey said they lacked some fight.
The Emporia High girls were led in scoring by Gracie Gilpin with 13 points. Rebecca Snyder added 10 points.
Washburn Rural was led by Zoe Canfield with 20 points, she made 6 three-point shots.
With the loss, the Emporia High girls are now 7-3 for the season. They will play Wichita South Thursday in the opening round of the Glaciers Edge Tournament.
