The Emporia High girls wrestling team finished in 1st place at the Independence girls tournament Saturday.
The Emporia High girls had 5 individual champions:
Ariana Estrada at 101 pounds, Madelynn Griffin at 126 pounds, Virginia Munoz at 138 pounds, Laelah Holding at 155 pounds, and Megan Olson at 235 pounds.
The Emporia High boys won 3 of their 5 duels Saturday.
The Spartans defeated Wichita West 50-19, Dodge City 51-22, and Junction City 67-12.
The Spartans were defeated by Bishop Carroll 51-22 and lost to Derby 37-34.
Five Spartans were undefeated on the day.
Lukas Hainline at 126, Xerarch Tungjaroenkul at 145, Davian White at 182 and Bobby Trujillo at 195 were 5-0. Jay Orozco was 3-0.
