The Emporia Community Foundation has announced its grant recipients for the year.
The Grants Committee announced seven recipients:
*Communities in Schools of Mid-America gets $2,500 to offer direct assistance for student needs, including food, clothes and school supplies
*Family Promise of the Flint Hills gets $5,000 to offer beds and “welcome-home” packs
*Hartford’s Park Revitalization Project gets $5,500 to replace picnic tables
*Lebo’s Park and Recreation Board gets $2,300 for safety and lighting at its tennis and basketball courts
*Project Playscape gets $3,500 to help build a splash pad at Americus Jones Park
*The United Way of the Flint Hills gets $5,000 to help fund its Emergency Housing Project
*USD 253 Emporia’s Logan Avenue Elementary gets $1,200 for its Sonday Let’s Play learning system
The Community Foundation’s Grants Committee makes selections based on innovative approaches and programs meeting community needs in areas like health, social services, education, recreation and cultural affairs. Executive Director Becky Nurnberg will talk more about the grant program as part of KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am Wednesday.
