A hearing continues Tuesday afternoon to certify one of the defendants in the Jesus Avila murder as an adult.
A hearing began Monday for the case against Alan Alanis and resumes at 1 pm Tuesday in Lyon County District Court.
Alanis is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, arson and other counts in Avila’s death.
Alanis is one of six defendants in Avila’s murder from September 2017. All were teenagers at the time of Avila’s death, and four have been certified as adults. Samuel Garcia, the most recent defendant to be charged, has a hearing next month to have him certified as an adult as the overall case moves forward.
