A hearing continues Wednesday as local prosecutors work to certify Alan Alanis as an adult in the murder of Jesus Avila four-plus years ago.
The hearing started Monday and continued Tuesday afternoon. The hearing will resume at 9 am.
Alanis is one of six defendants in Avila’s murder from September 2017. All were teenagers at the time of Avila’s death, and four have been certified as adults. Samuel Garcia, the most recent defendant to be charged, has a hearing next month to have him certified as an adult as the overall case moves forward.
Alanis is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, arson and other counts in Avila’s death.
