Rapid tests may still be on hold, but Healthier Lyon County is moving forward with home tests for underserved residents. And it’s beginning a vaccination effort.
Healthier Lyon County says it got one batch of home tests this week and should have another one available Friday. Because of a major imbalance between demand and supply, Healthier Lyon County has been prioritizing test for the disabled, homeless, homebound, economically disadvantaged and residents with transportation issues. Residents in these categories can call to pick up a test, have one delivered or meet at an agreed location.
Meanwhile, Healthier Lyon County is starting to offer vaccinations at all levels — primary, second, booster and pediatric — through a new partnership with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The first clinic will be 2-8 pm Feb. 4 at Emporia Main Street, 729 Commercial. Healthier Lyon County has some $25 gift cards available for people interested in getting vaccinated.
