Hospital beds remain full and the percentage of COVID-19-vaccinated patients needing hospital stays continues to rise in Newman Regional Health’s latest report.
The hospital’s weekly COVID-19 Dashboard shows daily patient census numbers ranging from 11-16 hospitalized patients between Jan. 13 and this past Wednesday. The census peaked at 16 on Tuesday and was at 15 Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the percentage of COVID-vaccinated residents needing overnight care is at an all-time high. The hospital has had 134 total COVID patients hospitalized since July 1. As of Wednesday, 33 patients — or just under 25 percent — are vaccinated. That percentage was under 10 percent when the dashboard made its debut last fall.
Patient transfer times have been relatively stable the past three reports at slightly more than two hours. The longest wait for a transfer over the past week was nearly 16 hours.
