Several road construction bids have been approved for Lyon County as part of action taken by the Kansas Department of Transportation as announced Thursday.
KDOT has announced four projects, all involving major highways:

*Two overlay projects are set for US Highway 50 near Emporia. One involves about four miles of pavement from the Lyon-Chase county line to Road E. That project goes to APAC-Shears for over $3 million. The other is less than a mile of road from Emporia’s eastern city limits to the Interstate 35-East Highway 50 junction. APAC-Shears claims that project with a bid of over $250,000.
*Kansas Highway 99 will have a road sealing project from the Lyon-Greenwood county line north to Emporia’s south city limits, involving almost 16 miles of highway. Circle C Paving and Construction of Goddard won the contract with a bid of over $480,000.
Construction timetables for these projects are currently pending.
