At least for now, Gary Wyatt is serving Emporia State University as acting provost.
Interim President Ken Hush made the announcement as part of an email to campus Friday with provost George Arasimowicz “away from campus” for unspecified reasons.
Wyatt is currently Emporia State’s associate provost and dean of the Honors College, a role he has had for nearly eight years. Previously, Wyatt was the director of the University Honors Program, associate dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences and president of Faculty Senate during his 34-year career at ESU.
Arasimowicz came to Emporia State in April from Central State University after previous provost David Cordle announced his retirement. Arasimowicz also served as acting president immediately after Allison Garrett left ESU to be the chancellor and chief executive officer for the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education.
